I think the clue is in Ian's line 'This one is more extreme'.

Ian has taken the discussion (Which some would prefer to refer to as an argument, which is what all discussions on here descend to), to a different level.

Ian's link would help people to better understand the Mythbusters question.

The link shows the principles needed for take off and landing and should help those who couldn't grasp the physics first time around, to have a better understanding now.

I don't see your problem with that Paul, he never said it was the same, he said it was more extreme.
