About a year ago, many of us discussed a plane taking off from a conveyor belt. Apparently, this was about a video from Myth Busters.
This one is more extreme......
A 3 axis microlight lands and takes-off from a moving boat deck. The boat is moving forward at X speed, the head wind is Y speed. X + Y seems to be almost exactly the stall speed of the plane.
There's loads of film-makers tripe at the beginning but the fun starts at about 3.00 mins.
Take off is even funnier. With the motor running and the headwind + boat speed, the plane is almost at take-off speed while stationary (compared to the boat).
This should answer last year's question on the subject!
Remember, if the boat was quicker or the headwind faster, the plane could take off while rolling BACKWARDS!
