ABOUT
The Matchams Pit Bike series was brought to life in 2007 when Dynomite Motorcycles approached Matchams Karting with the idea of running a pit bike series at the circuit.
Matchams Karting Ltd was already running a championship, but what was very clear was the lack of direction in the way of the rule book. This was the case throughout the uk within the minibike racing scene at the time, as riders were spending more and more money on equipment to gain an advantage over other competitors.
The Matchams Pit Bike Series has eliminated the cheque book racing element from the Minibike scene! In our championship all rider MUST run to a strict set of rules that ensure a level playing field is achieved at all times. Winning bikes are regularly checked for eligibility so you can be sure that no-one has an unfair advantage.
The championship has gone from strength to strength and we now see grids in excess of 20 riders at most race meetings.
RACE DAY
Gates open at 7am. All riders need to sign on and get their bikes past scrutineering before 9am. This is swiftly followed by the riders briefing where every competitor must attend.
THE RACING
Each rider will have the opportunity to complete two 15 minute open warm up sessions. There is no obligation to complete both, but everyone must complete a minimum of 5 laps. Morning warm up is then followed by three heat races and a grand final. All races on the day (heats and finals) count towards the end of season championship. Trophies on the day are awarded to 1st 2nd 3rd from the final.
THE CHAMPIONSHIP
The championship has 9 rounds from March to October and your best 8 rounds count towards the overall positions. We have an Overall championship and a Novice Championship. Everyone competes in the Overall, where anyone who has under a years worth of competition behind them also competes in the novice championship.
End of year awards are given to 1st 2nd 3rd Overall and 1st 2nd 3rd Novice.
