Nah i don't think Merc would use threatening to quit as a leverage tool - don't teams have to pay a bond, something like $50m per season to race and each month get a % back until its all payed back, a way of ensuring teams have enough funds to race, there may also be a contract i'm not sure so Merc would breach that and also lose the bond which i doubt they would even miss.

I think pirelli are in a better bargining position, its in the lap of the gods as to what happens with merc
