That's when they had Lewis in the team though. Button can't develop a car so it rests on Perez' shoulders to give the adequate feedback so they can go in the right direction with the car. Sadly for Maclaren I don't think Perez is any better than Button for doing that.

I think there are a lot of things wrong in the Maclaren team. Every season they turn up at the start with a car that is not quite ready. The age old saying springs to mind 'failure to prepare is preparing to fail'. You don't see any other team have a very slow start to the season and then progress their way to the front.
