Ban Lorries over 25 ton?! That would mean two trips to a delivery point in a rigid lorry to deliver the same amount as an articulated lorry can make in one drop. Are you prepared to pay more for your goods as a result of the increased costs to hauliers (more diesel being used, running costs of vehicles etc).
99.9% of all goods are delivered by lorry, from food in the shops, construction material, household items, home heating oil, the list is endless. HGV drivers could bring the whole country to a standstill if they wanted to.
Lorries in general only average 8/9 miles to the gallon so the cost of running a haulage company is massive and the profit margin is tiny. Whilst I agree that some HGV drivers could engage their brains a bit more when driving, the vast majority of drivers will adhere to the defensive driving tecnique.
