Chris sorry you mistook what I meant. I meant convervatives are out of touch with the public and thus can't make good policies because they don't know what the country needs. I should have worded it clearer.

Democracy is automatically flawed as it is a popularity contest, you may have a person who has brilliant ideas for the country and would be able to drag the country out of the problems, however if he wasn't good at selling himself then he would never get voted in. As plato said, politicans will only do things that are good in the short term however may hinder the long term, they will never do anything that looks bad now but will benifit later because they are only interested in getting voted in again.
