If you suspect he's sent you back a different item to the one you sent him:

Does the item have a serial number on it?

Do you have any way of proving the item you sent didn't have that serial number?

i.e if you're a shop, did the suit come from a batch of suits that you have with sequential serial numbers, and if so, does the one he returned not fit?
