The concept of 'moving forwards' in motor racing makes me laugh!

Having watched motor racing since the 1950s, I can tell you, it has not 'moved forward' one FRACTION since then! It's got faster.... and WORSE! (I'll change that.... it HAS got SAFER)

Had you raced in the 1960's and 1970's when we had to fight entrants off with a STICK at most club meetings, you would know how far BACKWARDS we have gone!

In those days, to LIMIT the size of the entry to any decent club race, you were only allowed to enter if you were a MEMBER of the club or an approved local club!

When I started in 100 National, we had to SPLIT THE GRIDS into 3 or 4 groups of 26 karts each for all meetings at Kimbolton!

As a youngster.... my engines were every BIT as fast as the rest in my 'group'. I was NOT a chequebook racer..... because we didn't need to be! The ones who spoent more money went up into 100 INTERnational!

It's actually pretty sad to see what has happened to my much loved 'motor racing for the masses'.
