Dave and Andy.

I'll ignore the 'communist' propaganda in one of those replies....... However, I could argue that Dave is wishing to gain form his IMMENSE 'riches' of knowledge in engineering. I can't see why HIS super-'riches' in one area is any more laudable than some other father's riches of money. To be fair, I have neither (mney nor knowledge)..... perhaps that's why I am arguing for a FAIR formula!

Nobody expects two engines to be IDENTICAL but.... I suspect.... if people were offered a class where well prepared and EQUALISED motors were 'pooled' and were drawn by 'lots' for each meeting... and they were given a fair and enforceable method of challenging the 'fairness' of the engine they 'drew' and challenging the validity of the engine of other drivers, then much more of the DRIVING skils would be visible.

Your TVR driver is the perfect example.... why SHOULD he win if he's NOT the best driver? Tell me how we are supposed to distinquish your friend's 'knowledge' about the car and the size of his CHEQUE BOOK? Being a close friend of Giles Cooper who was a very long term TVR dealer and racer.... I KNOW how much money was thrown at those cars to make the quick ones QUICK! Peter Wheeler (ex owner of TVR) is not the best example of a 'fair' man.....
