I went a few years ago and camped. Although the facilities were all temporary they were good.

We drove and took the overnight ferry from Hull, however, that was chosen due to our relatively close geographical location to the ferry terminal.

Having the car gave us a bit more flexibility on an evening and we drove into Spa a couple of nights which wasn't that far distance wise but offered more choice for bars and supermarkets.
