500bhp was the taget output quoted by the fia when turbo engines were first announced.
The racing was good back in the 80's when they didnt refuel and used an adjustable boost. Also racing would surely be better if they were simply allowed to alter the car setup between qualifying and the race to meet the conditions? That way if you screw up your qualifying lap you can alter your car to give you a chance to overtake. Now we have the fastest car at the front and the slowest at the back, and the rules say that must stay like that overnight and into the start of the race, so how do you overtake?
If button for instance had been able to change his wing angles for the race and had more straight line speed would this have helped? Or the car's bouncing off the rev limiter unable to use drs because they cant change the ratio after thursday?!
Unlimited turbo's and NO parc ferme after quali, thats the way to go :)
