I thought the record was the Chelsea defender Winston Bogarde Ł40k a week over 4 years for something like 10 games and he got bonuses.

Or Veron at both Man Utd and Chelsea.

Or Shevchenko at Chelsea

Or Aqualini at Liverpool

Or Torres at Chelsea

Makes Dyer look great value lol. Personally I think Ljungberg at West Ham was far more wasteful or Benni BigMac. At least Keiron Dire (?) had talent and if he hadn't broken his leg against Bristol in the cup I think he would have been a really good player for us.
