Yes, Tony has only bought a 'name'....

Can you remind me what any of the OTHER companies/people have done since Chapman died....? I don't see a GREAT deal of 'heritage connection' between Proton and the historic company called 'Lotus', either! Proton bought a 'name', as well! Danny Bahar is just the CURRENT flyboy to be heading the company.

You are being 'prissy' about Tony just 'buying a name'...... just be consistent and apply the same degree of prissiness to the companies who bought Group Lotus (the owners of Lotus Cars).

If you want to be precise...... Chapman did NOT design the Lotus 7..... It was actually designed by Edward Lewis who did NOT work for Lotus.... Chapman (of whom I am extremely 'fond') borrowed the car AND the idea from Edward!

Similarly, Nearn/Caterham only 'bought' a 'name'.....

The history of Lotus is far too 'piratical' and 'chequered' (to say the LEAST) to get too hung up on points of principle!

The suggestion that Lotus is 'profitable' under Danny is quite funny, too. We are told that Danny 'negotiated' Ł440 million for the first 5 years under his control. We are also told that he has spent HALF of that money in the first year........ That's not what I'd call 'profitable'.....
