It's contained in my previous message.

Tony Fernandes wanted the Lotus Car company (Group Lotus) and the F1 team. He had been told he COULD buy it. He created Team Lotus (F1) and was in te process of buying the car company.

Danny Bahar came along and and wanted to take Lotus WAY upmarket and persuaded the Proton board (Malaysian Govt.......) that it was do-able AND profitable. Danny wanted more control over Team Lotus but Tony Fernandes wasn't going to let him or to sell the Team Lotus F1 team to him.

Danny Bahar severed connections with Tony Fernandes and tried to stop Tony using the name Lotus (court case on-going). That's another confused story...... you'd hardly believe what Group Lotus have been trying to claim!

Danny wants Lotus in ALL classes of racing an thus needed an F1 team...... and thus bought Reanault......

..... hence TWO teams called Lotus.... BOTH with Renault engines.....

The two teams are NOT friends..... to put it mildly....

Part of the reason for buying Caterham was to ANNOY Danny Bahar. We are told that it has succeeded.......
