Re: Why was Kelgate named "KELGATE" ?
I know the basic info from the Kelgate braking systems site:

http://www.kelgate.co.uk/about_us.html

The original idea was born out of dis-satisfaction of the braking systems that were available for karts in the early 1970's. Derek Barnett and his partner Malcolm Richardson had already built a successful engineering company and Dereks son had recently started kart racing. Unhappy with what was on offer at the time, the first Kelgate brake was born.

But not Why the name was used ?.

Any one help please ?

Cheers
Trev
