I think you sum it up perfectly. I couldn't agree more with the whole 4x4 SUV or jacked up cars looking like they are off roaders. I have owned several. Typically the Land Rovers have all been fab off road and for towing but as fantastic as the new Range Rover is it is now answering a question that no one asks. If you honestly were spending £80k on a car would you take it off road and through mud? They appear to be purely status symbols so they can look down on everyone else in their "little" cars.

Take the BMW X6. Why? I wonder what a coupe 4x4 would be like. Answer is rubbish. The MINI Countryman? Give it up there is no point.

The typical 4x4 should be a working vehicle where as most of the new breed are the same as walking around with a fake Ipad. Great untill it has to be used for what it is meant for.

The origial Discovery and Range Rover created whole new market sectors. The new ones are have now moved too up market to cater for the same sector.
