Road Rat.....

Look at the 'numbers'. I go through them in the reply to Max27, above.

Chernobyl was a 'worst possible case' scenario! How many died?

Obviously EVERY death through industrial accidents is a TRAGEDY.... but..... keep it in perspective.

Taking the highest current estimate of 'additional cancers' caused by 'Chernobyl' and assuming that EVERY cancer killed the 'victim' and then multiplying that number by TWENTY, just to make sure we don't miss the deaths that we 'missed' or 'covered-up'...... That number is the same a THREE YEARS EU Road Deaths! Yes, that's APPALLING..... but less the the number of UK residents who die from SMOKING!

If EVERY Reactor was hit by an asteroid-triggered Tsunami and they ALL went into 'exposed-core-exposion'..... the deaths from radiation or any OTHER nuclear-related cause would be SWAMPED by the numbers killed by the number killed DIRECTLY by the Asteroid and Tsunami.

We may well wipe out the human-race..... but it won't be through the failure of nuclear reactors!
