Hi guys, been away from here for a while as my involvement in racing has, sadly, dwindled away :(
But, I've been keeping an eye on the forums as ever, enjoying a read from time to time of people insulting other people, or more often than not, someone being stupid, and being rightly corrected.
Have a favour to ask people. I've been at university for about six months now, studying journalism, and when a new sports-based website was created, www.sportsvoice.co.uk, I jumped at the chance to provide a bit of F1-based (and Charlton Athletic, I must admit)writing. My services were accepted, so hey-ho, I'm online! Already had one story, just to test the waters, but here's my first real attempt at a better one.
http://www.sportsvoice.co.uk/2011/03/formula-one-bernie-ecclestones-artificial-wet-track-idea-not-well-received/
Just to clarify: 1.) I think Tilke is a fantastic designer of circuit layout, some of his tracks are simply beautiful, and Istanbul- and especially Turn 8- is a real drivers track. I'm simply putting across the popular criticism that even though he is working within the limitations of the FIA's regulations, maybe there's more he could do to help overtaking? 2.) Bernie's "artificial rain" idea isn't ridiculous. Not in the sense that it wouldn't work anyway, the Abu Dhabi test proved that. But I agree with Webber, and also Nick Fry, in the sense that it isn't F1. In this idea's basic form, we're admitting that the racing is boring but instead of fixing it at the root of the problem, we're chucking a sprinkler on to cause trouble. Please comment on the article, or on here, let me know your opinions :)
