I first brought this topic up a few weeks ago, but just a refresher.

My 18 year old son recently passed his test and has identified a 1.4 litre Ford Focus for his first car (51 plate, only 1500 quid)

Best quote, putting me and his mum on as named drivers is 6000 quid!!!!

Adrian Flux won`t take him because he has a job and is not a full time student (can`t believe that one)

I won`t go down the route of putting him on my policy, because for one he will never start a `no claims` life and for two, I don`t really think it is legal, and if it is, then the company would find a way to wriggle out of paying in event of an accident......so where to go???

How the hell does he get on the ladder??

He appreciates it is going to cost him, and he is prepared for maybe 2k........but 6k ???? Come on!!!!

He has tried 10 different ones to date, all about the same.......he says the funniest thing is, their surprised reaction when he says no!!!

Personally I think anything more than pound for pound with car value in madness.....not sure where he can go from here???
