It was all about tyre warm up. They got on the slicks earliest and gradually built up the heat in the tyres. The williams is particularly hard on its tyres this year and this probably helped them too.

Having said that, hulkenburg took the opportunity with both hands and fair play to him. Other drivers had the same opportunity and made a mess of it.

The race will be very interesting as a result, as that car well over a second and a bit slower than the top teams. Part of me hopes they get a decent result, as they are very close to not existing next year.
