We were discussing the practicalities, both the scientific and financial, of speed limiters as a replacement for speed cameras. I for one don't believe that this is yet viable, but for all the reasons above, personal speed tracking could be.

One of the biggest reasons against speed limiters in my opinion would be that they could actually encourage people to go faster. Speed limits would become even more like speed targets than they already are. With many drivers just planting their right foot and using the speed limiter like a universal cruise control.
