I recently read a story about Patrick Depailler where, apparantly, he drove a 250E around Monaco and set a time quicker than the, then, F3 cars and, again apparantly, he was quoted as saying that he could have done a time to put it on the F1 grid.

Just wondered about the validity of this, and whether anyone else had heard about it.
