The rules are still easy to get round though - what surprises me is that they don't employ coded messages that nobody else would understand. Apart from that it would be easy to 'miss a gear' or oversteer slightly out of the hairpin to do the same job.

What is really needed is a set of objective rules that make the outcome more difficult to predict.

For example, reintroduce fuel stops and have stiff penalties (exclusion for running out of fuel before parc ferme). Enforce the use of at least 3 sets of tyres during the race. In other words make it as difficult as possible.
