First you have to observe their habit.

They will use a well worn trail to the food they seek, therefore remove all food and clean up thoroughly.

Look for scouts, these are solitary ants who will find a food source and report back to the nest if you allow them to escape.

Thoroughly clean the trail with bleach and give them a food source away from the house.

Keep rubbish bags away from the house and wrap up discarded food very tighly.

They don't like talcum powder and if you can get cornmeal for them, they swell up and die when they eat it.

If you're really good, get a set of darts and pin them down by getting them by the leg.
