I understand your position but I ask you to review that 'stance' after considering some other points.

Back when I started karting (in the late 1950s) we raced on tracks with straw bales, pudding-basin crash helmets, loose fitting cotton overalls, no boots but simple shoes and gloves.... if you could be bothered. At the same time, formula 1 drivers raced on LETHAL tracks, wore JOKE helmets and had fuel tanks over their KNEES and raced around Monaco with KERBS on the track...

I never met ONE driver who was FORCED to race and ALL of us were willing and DELIGHTED entrants!

Time passed and we GREW UP and worked out that certain things were simply TOO dangerous. Some we accepted willingly and others we were FORCED to accept (e.g., fire extinguishers in the awnings). Now in 2010, we can see, even the things we OBJECTED-to actually made SENSE. Many F1 supporters HOWLED when the 'Ring was dropped, when cockpits got high-surrounds, etc., etc., occurred. Now we can mostly) see the SENSE in them... we now have more Formula One drivers alive today than we WOULD have done without those 'measures'.

The ONLY place where 1950s style safety is STILL tolerated in motor-racing is now the TT.... and it's the O*N*L*Y event in motor-racing where we know for CERTAIN that one or MORE drivers WILL (not MIGHT..... WILL) be killed EVERY YEAR!

So.... my questions are .....

1) Why is this anachronism STILL tolerated in 2010 when it's NOT in ANY other class of motor-sport?

2) How MANY drivers need to die at a SINGLE TT event to FORCE you lot to accept that it is TOO dangerous? How would you feel if it was 50 riders per year??? So... what WOULD it take? How about FIVE?????

3) Why is it MORE 'sinful' for me to ASK that question than it is for YOU lot to SUPPORT a race which KILLS and leaves SO many children ORPHANS every DAMNED year????

All I am asking for is CONSISTENT views on SAFETY.... Why IS it that safety levels that would be BANNED at ANY OTHER race are simply IGNORED when it's 'only' TT racer's lives at risk?
