Rich, my Roland kit was about Ł1000 with everything including extra cymbal, bass pedal, throne, sticks, headphones etc.

Check out the scheme called 'Take it Away.' Most music shops operate this scheme whereby anyone over the age of 18 can buy any musical instrument and associated gear for just 10% down and 9 equal monthly payments. There is 0% interest as it's backed by the government. It's a brilliant scheme, easy, quick and I took advantage of it to buy my kit.
