Doink......

There's that difference between us again. I learned to wire, plumb and do general joinery simply by DOING it on my own house. I read a few books on the general principles, read DIY manuals and asked friends who ARE plumbers, joiners, cabinet makers and general builders. I also learned to Gas weld with EXACTLY the same techniques and will (eventually) learn to MIG/TIG weld in the same way. In reality, it's EXACTLY the same way that YOU have learned to KART! You simply got OFF your backside and DID it!

However, if I wanted to do any of the above as a JOB (trade, profession, etc.).... I'd put the words (for eaxmple) 'evening classes electrician' into Google..... and I'd find this:-

http://london.floodlight.co.uk/london/courses-classes-lessons/best-electrical-courses/qualification/evening/region/16180339/220706/100/domain.html

God ALONE knows if that's a good course but there were more than one listed.....

I assume that there are evening class courses for ALL the trades you might fancy.....

If it's more of an 'acedemic' qualification you need, try the Open University.

Yes, it WILL require you having a longer working day and it WILL cut down on social activities and EVEN cut down on your karting...... but......

Oh..... and the way in which I learned to become a 'professional' programmer/database consultant was EXACTLY the same way..... I went to a total of ONE 7 day beginners class in Cobol and then simply started WRITING code...... I never had a SINGLE lesson in Database design but, even national (and INTERnational, come to think of it) companies PAY me for my 'skills' in database work!

I am NOT saying this to 'blow my own trumpet', I am saying that if ***I*** can do it..... SO CAN YOU.... you may have some daft ideas but you are NOT an IDIOT!

What I am saying is that it is ALL there for you to do IF you take the same attitude about getting those 'skills' that you took towards getting a JOB.... You didn't waste your time waiting for the 'state' to GIVE you a job.... you went out and GOT one.... bl**dy BRILLIANT!

As I said.... you are SO close to it and it IS within your reach..... remember a man's reach should exceed his GRASP..... stretch yourself!

Juts make sure PART of your new-found-skills is in 'accounts'..... or get yourself a 'women' who has or CAN get those skills..... women are just GREAT!
