Merv......
I have been reading Private Eye of the past 43 YEARS! Christopher Brooker and Barry Fantoni were regular writers with them, then!
My first 'acquaintance with the 'Eye' was a VERY floppy (flexi...) 45rpm disk during the election lost by Sir Alec Douglas Home in 1964..... The Eye was called him 'His Master's Vass' and, on that record, I still rememeber the imortal lines spoken by Willy Rushden which included the words:-
'..... and smacking them up de bum with de fibre glass fishin'-rods.....'
.....spoken in a Nigerian accent
......and....
'...... when Jesus was alive, he voted conservative.....'
I'd like to find a copy but can't afford to!
So... as you see, I know my 'eye' quite well.
I chose the Tim Harford broadcast because it explains the problem, simply and clearly.
Keep up with your 'Eye' reading!
Ian
