You might be right about decisive government, but regardless, first past the post also almost invariably gives us a majority of the electorate who feel disenfranchised and consequently we see the constant sniping during the term and ultimately a massive swing in the opposite direction.

One of the major problems with this is the impossibility of governments planning beyond the expected term of their office. So issues, like climate change (if it exists) and defence, that require long term pragmatic decisions, never get properly resolved.

It could just be possible that a coalition might make some decisions for the good of the country rather than for the perceived benefit to the next opinion poll.
