Having polished (not ONLY the bonnets but the WHOLE CAR) Lotus and Caterham Sevens for the past almost 40 years (bl**dy HELL!), I too would like to know a better way!
For me, the best polish is Solvol Autosol. Used manually, it's BRILLIANT.
The tool to buy is a commercial (industrial) car polisher.... like this but MUCH more chunky:-

It MUST be 'low geared' or it will 'burn' any painted areas! I fined that Autosol on that, too, gives the best finish but something like G10 compound (commercial grade car polishing fluid with NO wax) is great for doing the worst parts.
I use about 4 lamb's wool mop heads in rotation, washing and drying them regularly as they get 'choked' with alloy and polish.
The problem is that the machine will 'fling' polish over the areas that you have already polished so it still needs quite a bit of hand-finishing ,later.
However, if you can get it done FOR ypu for as little as £100..... I'd bite their bl**dy ARMS off! (are you MAD..... ?)
If they'd do the WHOLE car for less than 3 times that....... I'd never need to buy Autosol AGAIN!
Good luck, MATE!
