All of this can be put down to the problems with the regulations. We know that the cars can't run close to each other because of turbulence and when they do, the reduction in downforce leads to extreme tyre wear, particularly at the front. Alonso and Hamilton suffered badly from this.
Why didn't Jenson ? Well we all know that Button's easier on his tyres, however, he had the luxury of never having to run close to anyone all day meaning that his tyres had a much easier time of it.
The root of the problem... sort out the regulations to allow these cars to run close to one another and overtake !
That said, fair dues to Jenson for making the call to come in and switch tyres when he did. That earned him a well deserved second place. He lucked into a win when Vettel suffered mechanical failure, but had he not, Jenson hadn't a prayer of catching him.
