Yeah.... I am forced to use them. I tend to run across the Netgear ones, mostly and have never found them a problem.
.....weelll.....
..... other than the problem of basic machanical design. Because they 'stick out' of the PC, some TW*T always drops something onto them or bashes something into them or gets a cable tied round them.... and the result is always the same, they snap off!
Try some tests: do other PC laptops with built-in WiFi or CardBus Wifi or PCs with other 'installed' WiFi cards see the networks that the Macs can see? You can always borrow one of mine to test it.
Secondly, is your access point broadcasting its 'name' (SSID)? If the macs already 'know' the name, then they'll 'see' the access point, however, machines new to that access point, won't!
Are you waiting long enough? I have recently found a router (TP-Link) that, with the correct settings, failed to get working for over 20 mins after it was 'set'.
Trouble is, with this sort of stuff, you can't find the faults unless you are 'there' with them.
It's also fairly 'Ironic' that you are finding the IDENTICAL problem getting a PC to talk to a (basically) 'Mac' network, that I got trying to get ANY Mac to talk to a basically PC network!
If it's still a problem, I can bring down my laptop..... along with my Barometer.......
