I think the BBC has very much led the way in terms of media content distribution. Its iPlayer service is unparalleled (and was the first of all the UK channels to be on the market), the BBC news site is one of the best in the world, it's Digital TV service is better than anything its rivals offer and most importantly, the content it provides is of a high quality.

However, I do think TV licenses, along with council tax, tax credits, road tax and all the other "after take home pay" taxes should be abolished. It should all be income tax or all VAT and nothing else.
