A lot of miss placed bravado going on here.
Anybody who thinks that a four wheel drive is of no use and a two wheel drive can cover the same conditions is a bit short on very basic physics education.
I can drive slowly up an icy hill while the two wheel drives are trying to get up at crazy speeds. If their spinning tyres ever gripped they could end up anywhere and frequently do.
What four wheel drives are no better at is stopping on ice.
