A pal of mine who lives about a quarter of a mile from me does a lot of driving up and down the country in his job (I would imagine at least 30k miles per annum, prob a bit more) and he has a 4x4 Freelander.
Over a few beers, we have often had the argument of WHY he has a 4x4, him saying he needs it for going up and down the M6, M1, M40 etc, in nothing more severe than heavy rain........me saying you don`t need it at all, you don`t live on some remote farm, and you NEVER use it in 4x4 mode......you know, the general stuff.
After the heavy overnight snow yesterday, I got a call from him about 11pm asking if I fancied the short walk to our club for a lunchtime pint.
"You not in work?" I asked........
"No, couldn`t even get off the driveway" came the reply.
I don`t think, like you said about the woman, he even knows how to switch to 4x4 mode.
All these vehicles are, are massive gas guzzling status symbols, for people who feel they have to sit high in the road and have a feeling of power over us mere mortals...........talk about embarrassing
