Jimd,yes there are a whole lot of variables that could happen between lap 14 and the chequered flag,ones which no team can predict or influence,so the teams work or play on the one ones they can,causing a crash and bringing the safety car out was one way of influencing the race,Alonso pits earlier than his fuel load suggested,comes out the pits LAST no doubt,Piquet crashes the next lap,all the other teams bring their cars in,once all the dust settles Alonso ends up at the FRONT with all teams all on one pit stop.

I dont really think its that hard to follow
