In my original post i just meant 'who'd have thought it' that a company like McLaren didn't think it could make its own KERS system that it had to sub it out,just wanted views thats all but....

On to the 'all should have it or none at all' debate.

It was my understanding that the FIA said from 2009 we want to introduce a system to recover lost energy and we will call it KERS. Teams will be able to develop this system throughout 2009 and it will become mandatory for 2010.

I also recall MB saying not all teams can afford or haven't got the knowledge to make a KERS system,obviously refering to the smaller teams,going on to say that the teams that DO will be at an advantage (a years worth of development) the following year in 2010.

This is why i said '09' was optional but '10' was mandatory so how can the teams decide between themselves that they are not going to persue KERS in '10',from my understanding 'its the rules'

Again i bet McLaren are kicking themselves for agreeing to drop it,my brother told me how much it was costing McLaren,lets just say you could buy a very nice 6 bed house with a very long drive just for 1 motor,Mclaren were wanting batches of 10 at a time.
