With regards to Schuey doing any testing: They're allowed to run a 2007 car on on 2007 tyres with traction control etc switched on, this would at least allow time for serious evaluation of his pace fitness. Renault F1, for instance, use this to demo an F1 car at their World Series events throughout Europe.

When Ferrari first tested their electronic driver aid free car at the end of 2007 they stuck Schuey in it first and neither Massa or Kimi could match his times
