Bernie isn't against British GP but against Silverstone which he unsuccessfully attempted to buy from the BRDC. Ever since that failed attempt he's been hell bent on destroying the track.
Bernie isn't about F1, GP's, Tradition, Fans etc. he's only about making money for himself, nothing else matters.
Don't know if you heard yesterday in the comentary it was said a few times that the Istambul Park is only ever used once a year! Can you see anywhere else a track that can survive in that kind of spec if only used once a year?
Most of the non-traditional GP's like Bahrein, Istambul, Malaysia are heavily subsidised by governments as a way of advertising the country to the world, the old traditional GP's like the German, French, Italina, British GP's are not making Bernie near enough money so he keeps threatening to cancel them!
There's not going to be a better British GP at Donnington just because it is there, but Bernie set himself the task to take on the BRDC, as he is now standing up to FOTA, just to prove to the world that it isn't Ferrari or the teams association who is the biggest in the sport but BERNIE ECKLESTONE!
Sadly though, as soon as he'll be gone everyone will breath a sigh of relief, say thank god and move on to forget him like you do a bad cough 2 days after you've had it!
