As I have said before, it should be YOU who is the politician and not me! You are attempting to put a 'spin' on this so we'll think nothing has REALLY happened. Those are NOT the facts!
FIAt has gone to court to ENFORCE its veto. Both 1998 and 2005 have been mentioned for the satrt of that SOLE veto. We have yet to see the PUBLISHED evidence but that should come out if FIAt try to take this to a civil court. Until then, we can only look at the EVIDENCE that has been published and that we can DEDUCE from events. None of that PRECLUDE 1998 as the start date!
Most pundits who have commented on this matter seem to take 'our' view that something completely UN-acceptable happened in 2005 and, by extension, MAY have started in 1998.
No further evidence EXCEPT the date CAN 'come out' as NONE of it EXCEPT the date is now CONTENTIOUS! We now KNOW all about the SECRET deal and nothing more NEEDS to be said about it EXCEPT to comment that it uis UTTERLY UNACCEPTABLE! That is WHY you are only seeing COMMENT and not new EVIDENCE!
You have previuously tried to 'mitigate' the effects of this FIASCO by claiming it WAS public knowledge BEFORE the FIA case, whereas EVERYBODY BAR YOU has comment that they have been SURPRISED by it! Your 'evidence' that it was KNOWN about seems to stem for people wrting RUMOURS about it from 1998 and then again in 2005!
But... when people like ME stated that such a RIGGING OF THE RULES had been in place (purely extrapolated from the ACTIONS of FIA and FIAt), I was ROUNDLY denounced by people LIKE you and possible even BY YOU PERSONALLY denyong that FIAt DID have the ability to RIG the rules in their favour. Not ONCE did you, or anyone ELSE say:-
" Yes, Ian, you ARE right and FIAt have been UNREASOBALY RIGGING THE RULES and we have known about it since at LEAST 2005!"
What people like you ACTUALLY said was that such an 'agreement' could NOT exist and that FIAt were being treated EQUALLY the same as the other teams! It's STUNNING that you have the audacity to claim that 'well, we KNEW about this all along' and yet you NEVER chose to draw our attention to it AT THE TIME..... How SURPRISING!
So... while the likes of Frank Williams, Maurice Hamilton, Sterling Moss, etc., are claiming to be 'surprised' by the EXISTENCE of FIAt's abilities to VETO rules, then I shall REMAIN of the belief that FIAt has been rigging the rule books..... because they went to court to ENFORCE their ability to RIG THE RULES! Luckily, so far, they have FAILED!
