of a 747 and a London bus is as follows:

747 = 60.20 miles per passenger per gallon
London Bus = 180 miles per passenger per gallon

These figures are based on the 747 being full and the London bus carry 30 passengers on average. So if the jumbo was only 75% full the passenger mpg would decrease to 45. However, national statistic say the average occupancy for buses is only 9 so at this number the passenger mpg for buses drops to 54.
