1st thing guys the government is not giving the Ł1000 out of their pockets it is from our "the tax payers" pocket, so your taxes are paying for someone else to get a new car, doesnt seem fair to me

2nd applies to retail price, ie most dealers will use this, could you get a better deal selling (ie no px) and pushing the price down....loads of cars not many buyers, buyers market

and last point, dont do it thinking you are being green, previous posts explain why you are not

better green way, massive tax on new cars and road tax,then reduce the road tax every year a car stays on the road and can pass its mot, you are recycling and reusing and not using resources or adding to waste

plus keeps uk mechanics in jobs

i knew when it came to deciding, the powers to be will always go for economy over green issues, green issues only win when it involves increased tax

but make your own choice, but simple way go to a main dealer push hard for a deal on your choosen new car for cash then go to the sister dealer and ask what deal using the scrappage, then deduct your current cars value from the 1st offer and see which is best..........i could also suggest that the 30 million being used for scrappage is funded from your wages via tax, should you take that into your sums ?
