That's exactly how I read the situation as well, from what we are told and a certain amount of reading between the lines.

However the point I was trying to make was, if it was any more serious, would we know or be told any different? The same 'don't panic' message would be used.

How do we know that the Mexican army isn't bulldozing bodies into pits, as we speak, we don't. We're trusting in governments and the media to tell us the truth.
