a small outbreak in mexico doesnt mean a pandemic, but is worth watching
me and the good lady haved spent last 4 years holiday on a turkish gulet, you meet some interesting people, 3 years ago a Canadian was on board, after a few efes (turkish lager) and late at nite told us his job, exit strategist, basic job role was to visit countries and put in place ways to get key people out, of course i said you mean a terrorist attack, his answer was terrorist attacks are way down the list, his top threat was pandemic, due to the impact it has on all aspects of life
now i know how many died in 11/9 so thought he was pulling my chain but googled when i got back
"The most serious pandemic, last century, involved the Spanish flu in 1918-19 which killed 40-50million worldwide and 250,000 in the UK.
In 1957-58, Asian flu killed a further 1million worldwide and 33,000 in the UK. This was followed by Hong Kong flu in 1968-70 which killed 1.4million globally and 30,000 in the UK"
sweet child of mine that is some big figures, of course medicine has moved on but you can bet our powers to be have sold ours on ebay to the lowest bidder but we are also more connected as a globe
like i said dont panic, figures seem huge when involing a country or global but worth keeping an eye on
