What John is trying to argue is that speeding drivers are 5 times safer than non-speeding ones. Which everyone (even John) can see is a stupid conclusion. You don't need to go any further into it than that.

What we do have is the straight statistic that 14% of fatalities are contributed to by exceeding the speed limit.

I guess Ian has sensibly got tired of this, I suspect around the time that you guys started arguing that going over the speeding limit made you 5 times safer!!
