Read all of this to fully get my point this time.
It is true that if 50% of people are speeding, and only 13% of people speeding have accidents - we could make a conclusion that speeding makes you safer, HOWEVER what you are saying (50% of people speeding at any one time on **EVERY** road **everywhere**) aren't true! It **is** true for the roads that are being measured though. Because those are the types of road that people commonly speed on.
Just think about it, the people measuring speed measure it where people commonly speed. Do you think they place any kind of official speed measuring devices on roundabouts? In the middle of junctions? At traffic lights? In car parks? minor and very thin roads? No! And do you think accidents take place in these places - YES!

And what you also have to take into account is the fact that the accident statistics AREN'T saying that 13% of people are speeding in accidents. They are saying in 13% of accidents speed is a **contributing factor**. (I.e. if the accident was caused by the speeding driver having a stroke, then driving off a cliff. Speed wasn't at fault! Therefore not counted in the 13%)...a bit of an extreme example but you get my point.

So we have two things skewing your conclusion:

1. The accident statistics and Speed statistics are produced from different types of road. Thus are incomparable.

2. The accident statistics only show when speeding is a **contributing factor** not simply that someone was speeding.

Do you seriously think that breaking the speed limit makes you FIVE times safer? I don't think you do, so you're only undermining your own sttandpoint by going down this route (a route which is, quite frankly, plain wrong)
