The figures I quote are for cars for 1999, I've since found figures for 2000 on the same site. Figures for motorbikes are said to be similar. I can't find anything later, but can't believe it is going to make much difference to the conclusion that
a) The majority of the public speed habitually
b) That majority have significantly less accidents (even fatal ones) than those that don't.

Could the reason just be that the ones that focus on the road rather than their speedos. And I'm not being facetious.

My stats are ALWAYS less sketchy that those who don't have any figures to back up their prejudices. And I'm afraid I can't be held responsible for the DFT regularly moving embarassing reports
