Amazingly, the video of the events leading up to the moments before the impact seems to posted on the BBC web site.

Have a look and see if you can find anything EXCEPT his speed that would have classed his driving as 'dangerous'. (Speed is shown in the lower right corner).

I can only assume that the person stepping into the road as the video stops is Miss Adamson. She appears to already be stepping into the road BEFORE the car appears over the hill. Would YOU have expected a car to be approaching you, over a blind brow, on a bend, in a lit road, past junctions at speeds between 94mph and 88mph as the frame freezes? If Miss Adamson HAD been drinking (as implied by Dan), it doesn't seem to be a contributory cause. Drunk or sober, you would have reasonably assumed that NO car would be approaching you at THREE TIMES THE SPEED LIMIT!
