Brookers views are ALWAYS a joke ion this and many OTHER subjects! Look at the LAST little lost that was quoted here!
Morner is slightly different.... he WAS a well respected 'scientist'.... until he started explaining EXACTLY how 'water dowsing' (divining) worked...... 'Away with the fairies' is a term sometimes used about him.
Out of interest, Brooker quotes INQUA. As you'd expect, Brooker failed to point out that all the REST of the EQUALLY respected INQUA 'team' disagreed with him STRONGLY! So much so that the chairman of the study actively REBUKED him...
However, this is EXACTLY how science is SUPPOSED to work.... people disagreeing... but where the majority view is the ACCEPTED view at the time ... until the 'monirity' can PROVE their point. At the moment, Morner is in the rapidly dying band of those who stodd AGAINST global warming from the start. It's not this small core of people who are trying to show the majority to be wrong but a 'rump' of people who are STILL hanging on to theories from the 1950s against all the REST of the evidence. (Morner retired in 2005).
I could illustrate this by showing you a 'number' of recent papers which HAVE measured the sea level and that has shown Morner to be WILDLY wrong ?
It's still possible that he HAS been right all along... however, the evidence is that he is an old man who REFUSES to change his earlier fixed views.... a bit like me, really! (tee hee!)
